It was another sunny day in Seattle and thinking that we may be pushing our luck on pretty days, we decided to go downtown to do all of the touristy things including going to the top of the Space Needle. After all, who would want to go to the top on a cloudy day? We already had the cloud of passport limbo hanging over us which was all the cloud I could handle so our trip to town would also include a trip to the passport office to see about replacements.
The Space Needle is part of the Seattle Center, a park, that was originally designed for the 1964 World’s Fair. Also located on the park’s campus is the monorail terminus, the Experience Music Project/Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame, Center House Theatre and the Pacific Science Center.

A trip to Seattle also wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Pike’s Place Market.The Market was established in 1907 and is one of the oldest continually operated public farmers’ markets in the United States. One can find anything from fresh produce to antiques to tourist trinkets and if one catches the fish market during a busy time you may also get to see some fish thrown around. It is a lively, colorful and fun atmosphere all wrapped up in the spirit of an old market.

It remained sunny all day except for the passport cloud. That one hung over us all day. According to the passport office, we would need to start from scratch to replace our passports which included needing original birth certificates which were securely locked away in a storage unit in Charleston. With those in hand, plus a lot of money, they would gladly replace them. It looks like we would get to enjoy Seattle for a little while longer.
